Happy New Year! Much Thanks from the Newbury Park and Youth Committee to those who came out for the New Year’s Eve Dance at the Newbury Legion. A good time was had by all.

Youth Dances continue to be on the First Friday of every month at the Newbury Legion for kids aged 9-13. Please encourage your children to come to the dances and bring a friend! Declining attendance may cause the dances to be cancelled in the future, and we don’t want to see that happen. If you need any information or have questions regarding the Youth Dances, please don’t hesitate to call the Community Services Office for information.

Congratulations to the winners of the Annual Christmas Decorating Contest! Thanks to all who participated in making our community beautiful for the Christmas holidays.

We have a New Fire Chief in town! Congratulations to Chad Trethewey who was elected and appointed as Newbury’s Fire Chief & to Mark Nowicki who was also elected and appointed as the Deputy Fire Chief. If you would like to volunteer as a local firefighter, there are applications available in the lobby of the Post Office.

DOG TAGS are now available for the 2012 year. Our local Animal Control Service official, Vicky Kyle has been out and about selling the tags door to door over the last few weekends. If you missed her, dog tags will be available in the Municipal Services Office in the very near future. Please ask at the counter.
PLEASE remember 2 dogs per household as per the Animal Control By-Law. You can see details of our bylaws on our Services page.

The 2012 Tax Notices have been completed and mailed out this past week. All tax bills are invoiced at 50% of the 2011 tax rate. Once the budget is finalized the tax rate will be set and your true taxes will be calculated for 2012. Any unpaid 2011 dog tags, grass cutting, drainage etc. will be added to your 2012 tax bill.
